Get Over It!

I am so over people acting shocked and putting me down because I don’t speak Spanish even though I have a Cuban (completely Americanized) father. I was not raised with Spanish as a language in my home as far as it being used as one language in my home with English obviously as the other one. The only Spanish I know comes from years of school and even so, I can pretty much ask for help and order a salad and can read it somewhat better. Yes, I come from an Hispanic bloodline just as I equally come from an Eastern European bloodline. I have no ties to Cuba nor do I want any. I in no way, shape or form “feel” Hispanic nor have I ever. I carry none of the Cuban culture in my personal life and I never will. This is not to put down Hispanics and the Cuban culture, it is just years of frustration after be looked at strangely and questioned for the above. I am happy to finally get this out and I hope everyone will understand it.
